Stabilizing and transferring patients appropriately are aspects of the regulation, and must also be features of fine patient care. But while EMTALA has helped our sufferers and society, it has also put a significant monetary burden on hospitals. We must keep pushing against insurance policies that increase uncompensated care, so that we can proceed to take care of anybody, with anything, and any time.
